Renu underlay is our highest density premium quality underlay available. Thanks to its extra density, Renu delivers additional support and greater performance without compromising on luxurious comfort. Why does density matter? Density represents how much foam is packed into each cubic metre of underlay. As a rule, the higher the density, the more comfortable and supportive the carpet underlay will feel. Plus, the longer the life of the carpet!
Carbon negative Bio Based Film
The bio-based film is made from responsibility sourced sugar cane on the face of the underlay. Every 1 tonne of our new bio-based film manufactured means that 3.09 tonnes of CO2 has been captured from our atmosphere.

How Are Dunlop Underlays Environmentally Friendly?
Dunlop's underlay are manufactured from 90% recycled materials and are 100% recyclable. They’re also accredited by the Carpet and Rug Institute’s Green Label program, which identifies products that promote superior indoor air quality. Furthermore, they meet the requirement set by the Green Building Council of Australia’s (GBCA) Green Star program and achieve maximum rating points for building interiors.

Can Dunlop Underlay Be Installed On In-slab Heating?
Yes. Dunlop Flooring flooring underlays are designed to support all types of heating systems, providing the heated
slab is functioning according to the manufacturer’s specifications and does not exceed 28°C.
It can take longer to heat a room installed with an underlay compared with that of a ceramic tile or vinyl area without underlay. But once temperature equalisation has taken place, the temperature remains more
stable.

Is Underlay Thickness or Density More Important?
As a general rule, density is more important than thickness, particularly. For under carpet, a thicker underlay offers good cushioning and softness underfoot.
A denser underlay provides superior insulation and acoustic performance in both carpet and hard flooring applications. Under carpet it can also reduce flattening or indentations left by heavy furniture or high traffic areas.

Does My Flooring Need Underlay?
It depends on the type of flooring. Residential broadloom carpet requires underlay whereas commercial carpet tiles are generally glued down or looselay so do not need underlay.
Laminate flooring must have an underlay, while engineered timber only needs underlay if installed as a floating floor. If timber is glued down then no underlay is required.
Hybrid flooring already has the underlay attached to the boards and it is not recommended to use additional underlay.
Most vinyl flooring does not need underlay as it is usually glued down.
There is the option to install glued down underlay under some types of flooring to provide better acoustic performance and insulation. This should be discussed with the retailer or manufacturer to insure underlay is fit for your purpose.
